Business Group

Business Group designs, implements and improves the Department’s business environment to enable it to better achieve its goals.

Our focus is to continually question current business practices in the Department, and wherever necessary, change the way we do business. For the Department to be best placed to deliver its outcomes, its business practices need to reflect the best and most efficient way of working.

The key objectives of the Business Group are to:

  • Develop, maintain and enhance the Department’s financial and management frameworks to facilitate appropriate levels of Departmental governance, financial responsibility and managerial performance;
  • Develop and deliver best value for money corporate services as well as policy and work practice support for program managers in the effective and efficient achievement of the Department’s outcomes;
  • Improve the capacity of the Department’s workforce to deliver Departmental objectives;
  • Establish and maintain long-term strategies for ongoing improvement and investment in the way the Department does business;
  • Design and implement the Department’s future IT environment;
  • Maintain the Department’s overall management of grants, projects and programs through development of common business processes; and
  • Take the lead on policy and actions in communications, marketing and related research and evaluation activities.

The Business Group has seven Branches:
  • Finance Branch;

  • Corporate Support Branch;
  • Technology Group;
  • Strategic Management Branch; and
  • Communications Branch.
